SHELLS AND BARS LAPTOP COZY

This fits my Sony Vaio which is 14 1/4 inches long by 10 6/16 inches wide. If you find any mistakes or errors or have improvements let me know. Be gentle it's my very first time ever sharing a pattern Do not sell the pattern, you may do whatever you wish with the finished product.

Sony Vaio VGNN325E Computer cozy

Materials: Red Heart Super Saver WW yarn in 2 colors-Less than 7 oz each color I used Black and Petal Pink

Hook size G-4.25mm

Special Note: to bring up a loop of color b:yo, insert hok into st, yo and pull through, 3 lps on hook, yo with color b and pull through all 3 loops to complete st.

BOTTOM: with black: ch 56

row 1: sc in second ch from hk and in each ch across (55 sc's)

row 2: turn, sl st into first st(turn st), ch 2,hdc in next st and in each st across, in last st bring up a loop with petal pink (see special note). (55 sts)

row 3: turn, sl st into first st(turn st), ch 1 sc in same st,*sk next 2 sts, 5 dc in next st,sk next 2 sts, sc in net st*, shell made, repeat from * to * across. (9 shells, 10 sc's)mark as right side.

row 4: turn, slt st in first st(turn st), ch2,*sc in next 5dc's, hdc in sc*, repeat from * to * across, in last st bring up black. (see special note)

row 5: turn, sl st in first st(turn st) ch 2,hdc in each st across (55 st's)

row 6: repeat row 5 bringing up pink in last st.

row 7,8: repeat rows 3 and 4

row 9,10: repeat row 5 and 6

row 11,12: repeat 3 AND 4

rows 13 through 33: repeat rows 5 & 6 and 3 & 4 alternativly.

row 34: turn, sl st in first st, ch2, hdc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, hdc in next st and in each st across. (the ch 2 will create the hole for the charger plug.)

Top:

Row 35-68: continue in pattern, making sure that you have 55 sts on each row. Finish off pink, do not finish off black!

Pocket:

This will fit over the top of the monitor to help hold the the cozy on. Continuing with black, row 1:turn, sl st in back loop of first st,ch 2,hdc in next st and in each st across. row 2-4: turn sl st in first st cathing both loops, ch 2, hdc in next st and each st across. finish off

TOP pocket sewing and side border wrong side facing (hook should be on the left) fold the pocket down along the free loops. Join black with a sl st in side of pocket by free loops, going through both thicknesses (pocket and cover) ch1 sc in same stich as joining, put 7 sc evenly in the ends of each of the 4 rows of the pocket cathing both thicknesses. Continue to sc along the edge of the cozy evenly. You should have 85 sc's, join with a sl st to bottom corner, finish off. Repeat for opposite side only having right side facing. Weave in any loose ends.

Corner Pockets:

Make 2 with black leave long tail for sewing

row 1: ch 1, sl st into ch 1, ch 1, sc into same st, ch 1 turn

row 2: 2 sc in st, ch 1 turn

row 3: 2 sc in next 2 sts, ch 1, turn

row 4: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn

row 5: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 turn

row 6: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 turn

row 7: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn

row 8: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 10, sts, 2 sc in last st,ch 1, turn

row 9: 2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 12, sts, 2 sc in last st, finish off (16 sc)

To sew corners on: With wrong side of cozy facing, match the point of the triangle to the corner of the cozy, using the tail at the point of the triangle sew one side of the triangle to the side of the cozy using the back loops only, the front loops will be used for the shell edging. Using the other tail, match the side of the triange to the bottom of the cozy and sew. There is no edging on the bottom. Repeat for the other corner.

Shell Edging:

With pink join with a sl st in the lower left corner, ch 1, sc in same st as joining, *sk next 2 loops, 5 dc in next, sk next 2 loops sc in next*, repeat from * to * until you reach the top, 14 shells,15 sc's, DO NOT finish off

top edging: sc in first free loop of top, *sk 2 loops, sc in next, sk 2 loops 5 dc in next*, repeat from * to * across the top right side: sc in front loop of first sc, sk 2 sts, *5 dc in next st, sk 2 sts, sc in next st* repeart from * to * until you reach the bottom again.finish off, 14 shells, 15 sc's
